Company Overview:
This company has been a client of mine now for almost 3 years and I can definitively say that they are unique. From people I have placed here, to my own firsthand experience in visiting their facilities and talking with their people, they do things differently. They take care of their employees, they (truly) care about their customers and they are growing quickly. Their offices in Lexington KY (population 300,000+) are right off of the Bourbon Trail and are located in the heart of Equine Country. Lexington itself is about an hour from Louisville, KY and about 90 minutes from Cincinnati – all of which offer world-class universities (University of Kentucky, University of Louisville and University of Cincinnati), a full-slate of professional and college sports teams and a myriad of entertainment options.
Job Description:
This person will work in the corporate offices for this large manufacturing company and will support projects throughout the U.S., as well as North and South America. This company has between 5 and 10 $2-3MM projects planned out for next year and this person will be responsible for everything from scope development and front-end project work, through to the management of vendors, selection of equipment, oversight of installation and finishing out with commissioning and start-up. Currently – there is a team of 12 engineers that are part of this group and the hiring manager is looking to add 1-2 more mid-career folks to the group. Travel for this position will vary, but will average 20-30%, mostly domestic. Overall, this company and its subsidiaries operate over 100 plants around the world, so there is certainly no shortage of work for this group. The capital budget is set to expand next year as well, so there should be capital available for even more projects than they have typically had in recent years.
Minimum Requirements:
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering REQUIRED (the two hiring managers are both chemical engineers)
  • 5+ years of post-college industry experience is REQUIRED
  • Acceptable industry background would be foods, agri-business, chemicals, or something closely related
  • Potential candidates must have managed projects in the $1-2MM range, on their own
  • PMP Certification or PE License is a big plus, but no required
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time
