Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in Chemical Engineering minimum, M.S. a plus; 5+ years of post-college, industry experience out of a PSM-regulated plant such as: chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, or some other closely related manufacturing process. Candidates must have hands-on plant experience, complete design through installation of projects from $500,000 and up, experience putting together preliminary P&IDs, engineering calculations, specifying equipment-materials, and experience with installation and startup. Candidates must have experience in: process optimization, developing process alternatives for new projects, and have examples of creativity. Pluses would be scale-up experience from bench to pilot full scale of new products or processes and designing and specifying equipment for that process. CAD and Aspen experience would be helpful as well.
Job Description:
This person will be based at a Corporate Engineering & Research Center which also houses sales, tech service, finance and HR totaling 250 people .This person will be part of a 20-person group that includes other chemical engineers and chemists. A new multi-million dollar building will be completed in 2017 and will house laboratories, pilot scale reactors and a central engineering center. This company provides process, project and research support to a number of chemical companies and chemical waste recyclers that they own.  The work could be anything from research on new chemical products (and how to make them), to research on how to make a profit out of waste streams to research on potential company acquisitions. Job encompasses: feasibility studies, complete design through installation of projects from $100K to $2MM, visiting production sites for process optimization, scale up of new products from bench to full scale and self-generating ideas on new processes or products that could help any of their business units. Travel is light and usually consists of day trips throughout the US on the company jet; startups on major expansions happen 2-3 times/year and require heavier travel. This parent company owns chemical businesses, waste recyclers and other building material producers in the U.S., Canada and China.  This position is bonus eligible and the target is 10%.
