Job Description:
This person will be based at a large specialty chemicals manufacturing site (300+ people) just outside of St. Louis and will also support another production facility in Houston. Travel will be 10-20%. The role will mainly focus on process design including putting together P&IDs, PFD, flow sheets, and heat and material balances. Additionally this person will be in contact vendors, will prepare cost estimates for projects, and will assist on start-ups of projects. This facility has a group of production engineers as well as a group of project managers and this person will be part of a group of 7 process design engineers working on projects ranging from $100,000 to $2MM, possibly up to $35MM. Depending on the complexity of the project, they could outsource the work to an Engineering & Construction firm in which this person would be performing front end design work, working with project managers, construction managers, and will assist on start-up. On-site equipment includes: reactors, mixing/blending equipment, powder conveying and some distillation towers. This site is ‘sold-out’ in terms of their product which means they can sell as much as they can make. This site is currently expanding and this role has excellent growth potential.
