These are brand-new roles with this company that are reflective of the project load they have planned out over the next 3-5 years. These are essentially corporate engineering roles, without the typical amount of travel that you would see with a corporate engineering role. This company has 23 facilities in the U.S. and they are #1 or #2 in 80% of the markets that they are in.
Job Description:
This person will be based at manufacturing site (~150 people) located on the Southwest side of the Chicago area – they will be joining a corporate engineering team that is currently very busy with a large portfolio of CAPEX projects that are on-going and/or planned out over the next 2-3 years. This person will be responsible for the coordination of all aspects of a project to ensure completion of the project in adherence with a schedule and within budget. Much of the work that this person is responsible for is on the front-end of projects including project scope definition, cost modeling and estimates, cost reporting, project justification, purchasing of material and equipment, and coordination of man-power (appropriations request). Minimum Requirements:
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering – MBA or M.S. in Finance preferred
  • 8+ years of experience related to front-end project development and/or the development of business cases and economics related to projects
  • Strong preference for people with experience with large projects (>$20MM)
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience working in the chemical manufacturing industry, or something very closely related
  • Should know stage-gate project management methods
  • Big pluses: knowledge of batch-processing, PE License (IL), PMP Certification
Salary Range: $125,000 to $140,000/yr base salary – 15% target bonus
